Starting a nonprofit is quite a departure from anything else that I've had had my hands in.
I've made attempts at sprinkling in charitable efforts with for-profits...but it has never blossomed into what I had envisioned.
What I like about starting my own nonprofit is that it's focused on something important to me and that I can relate to. Additionally, unlike for profit (which is all I've ever known), to me the measure of success is extremely different. I have no idea how this concept will work or be received, and frankly I don't care. Because to me it doesn't matter if it ends up helping 1 kid or 1,000 kids...both of those numbers are greater than zero kids.
I'll take that. And I'll call it a success.
